Personal Profile: Originally from Chicago, Illinois, USA, Melody Byrd, now residing in Singapore, enjoys her position as the Performance Coach for the Step IT Up Technology Training Program. For the past 10 years, her role has been to support the boot camp trainees in crossing the finish line to graduation by using coaching, mentoring and soft skills training. Prior to this position, Melody was a business analyst and software consultant for Blue Cross and Blue Shield, the largest health care insurer in the United States. As a lifelong learner, Melody subscribes to the teachings of Landmark Worldwide. This transformative education is the source for some of her wisdom that she uses during her coaching and training sessions. In addition, she is an avid Toastmaster where she volunteers to train speakers and leaders, especially at the newly minted club she chartered with her co-workers. Over 40 years ago on the campus of the University of Illinois, Melody joined Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, a social service organization where she has made a lifelong commitment to donating her time, talent and finances to worthy causes and uplifting the global community. One of her favorite quotes is “It may not be easy, but it is always worth it.” This quote especially applies to her life as an expat as she is challenged each day with making a difference for others and for herself.
